BABYLON, N.Y. (AP) — Four people were charged Wednesday with concealing a human corpse and tampering with evidence in connection with the discovery of body parts in parks on Long Island. All four defendants pleaded not guilty to hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence and concealing a human corpse and were released without bail. The next day, a cadaver dog located the head, an arm and parts of two legs. Additional remains found Tuesday in nearby West Babylon and in a state park were from the same two people, police said. The four defendants were arrested after police executed a search warrant at the Amityville home that Wallace, Mackey and Brown share.

A Trump fraud-trial witness's possible perjury should not delay a verdict, NY officials argue. They say it's "hardly surprising" if Trump co-defendant Allen Weisselberg lied on the stand. Weisselberg "lacks credibility" anyway, the officials, from the NY AG's office, wrote Wednesday. "If true, he should be held to account fully for his actions," Wallace wrote of Weisselberg. AdvertisementThe Trump defense team's response to the Weisselberg perjury matter was filed just in time for the judge's 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline.

That sort of approach resonated in conservative strongholds like Alabama long before Trump. Alabama Democrats, especially, cite deep historical roots involving racism, class and urban-rural divides when explaining Wallace, Trump and the decades between them. Moderate to progressive “national Democrats” were concentrated in north Alabama, Baxley explained, while reactionary “states-rights Dixiecrats” cohered in south Alabama. Wallace won four Deep South states as an independent in 1968. Wallace won his fourth term as governor in 1982 after disavowing segregation and winning over enough Black voters.

Want your kids to grow up confident and successful? Be careful about how you praise them, says toxic-parenting researcher Jennifer Breheny Wallace. "Noticing other people's strengths, and acknowledging them, makes people around us feel like they matter," she tells CNBC Make It. Spotlighting kids' honesty, creativity and other positive attributes often helped them grow in emotionally healthy ways, Wallace's research found. People become "stronger and more mature, less by being praised and more by being known," she recalls Weissbourd saying.

DENVER (AP) — Both a liberal group that sought to disqualify Donald Trump and the former president himself on Monday night appealed a judge's ruling that Trump “engaged in insurrection” on Jan. 6, 2021 but can stay on the state's primary ballot. Trump, meanwhile, appealed Wallace's finding that he did engage in insurrection and questioned whether a state court judge like her, rather than Congress, should settle the issue. The case will be heard by the seven justices on the state court, all of whom were appointed by Democrats. Political Cartoons View All 1260 ImagesColorado officials have urged a final decision by Jan. 5, 2024, when they must finalize their primary ballot. The next step after Colorado's high court would be the U.S. Supreme Court, which has never ruled on Section 3.

When asked by Wallace what percentage of Americans she thought were financially illiterate, she said, "Truthfully, probably 95%." So-called "traditional" accounts, including 401(k)s and individual retirement accounts, give you a tax break up front. Because you fund these accounts with money you've already paid taxes on, your contributions don't count against your taxable income. Contributions to these accounts are made with after-tax money, but investments in them grow free from federal or state tax. You can contribute to any state's plan — and each plan comes with different investing options — but you'll generally only receive tax benefits, if they're offered, by investing in your home state's plan.

The decision comes just days before a trial on Trump's eligibility for the ballot is expected to begin. In a 24-page ruling, Colorado District Judge Sarah Wallace pushed back on Trump's argument that Congress, not courts, should handle questions related to his ballot eligibility. She also sided against Trump's claim that state election officials lack the power to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Wallace's ruling Wednesday comes after Chief U.S. District Judge Philip A. Brimmer denied Trump's request to move the Colorado ballot case to federal court. In a four-page order, Brimmer sent the lawsuit back to the same state court in Denver County where it was filed on behalf of the group of voters.

AdvertisementAdvertisementLawyers from the New York Attorney General's office confronted former President Donald Trump in court Monday, showing a previously unseen deposition video where he denies responsibility for the property valuations in his own company. Moments earlier, Kevin C. Wallace, the attorney general's office lawyer presenting the opening statement, had shown a different deposition video of Weisselberg. Another lawyer from the attorney general's office asked if he was familiar with GAAP. The juxtaposition got to the heart of New York Attorney General Letitia James's lawsuit against Trump, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Weisselberg, and executive Jeff McConney. Cohen is scheduled to testify as a witness against Trump later in the New York trial, which is set to last until December 22.

Donald Trump has attacked the civil fraud case against him as political. AdvertisementAdvertisementFormer President — and 2024 Republican presidential frontrunner — Donald Trump has long complained that the legal cases against him are political. The New York Attorney General's $250 million civil fraud trial that began Monday morning, he says, is a "witch hunt." One of Trump's lawyers, Alina Habba, lambasted New York Attorney General Letitia James, an elected Democrat. The attorney general's lawsuit alleges that Trump, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and two other Trump Organization executives are liable for fraud for misrepresenting the values of the company's property in financial statements submitted to banks for loans.

The decision on Tuesday sets the stage for a new map with greater representation for Black voters to be put in place for the 2024 elections. The ruling marks a victory for Black voters in the state who had challenged the existing districts as racially discriminatory. WHAT HAPPENEDJustices denied Alabama's emergency request to keep Republican-drawn congressional lines in place and stop a three-judge panel from drawing new lines as the state appeals. WHAT IS THE REACTIONThe decision was a victory years in the making for Black voters and advocacy groups that had filed lawsuits challenging the Alabama districts. British defense minister Ben Wallace will not stand as a member of parliament (MP) in the next UK national election, and will leave government when Prime Minister Rishi Sunak carries out his next cabinet reshuffle, he told The Sunday Times newspaper. He has been defense secretary for four years, helping lead Britain's response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The newspaper said Wallace told Sunak his plans on June 16 but had hoped to make the announcement over the summer before leaks forced his hand. In the interview, Wallace said his greatest concern was the danger of military conflict with Russia, accidental or otherwise. Whether it is a cold or a warm conflict, I think we'll be in a difficult position," he said.

VILNIUS, July 12 (Reuters) - British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said on Wednesday he had warned Ukraine that its international allies were "not Amazon" and Kyiv needed to show gratitude for weapons donations to persuade Western politicians to give more. London has been one of Kyiv's staunchest supporters since Russia's invasion last year, and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has said Britain and its allies will double down on its support for Ukraine. Wallace recalled that he had travelled last year to Ukraine, where he was presented with a shopping list of weapons. "We were always grateful to the UK, prime ministers and the minister of defence because the people are always supporting us," he said. Asked about Wallace's comments, Sunak said that Zelenskiy had been grateful for the support given so far and that more support would be forthcoming as required.

Half of wedding vendors say higher costs of goods, from food to flowers to gas, are driving them to increase their service prices. A growing share of couples are adding cash funds to their wedding registries — some even earmarked specifically to help pay for the wedding itself. But with their surprise wedding winnings, Moore estimates their wedding day will be valued at more than $16,500. Usually, couples who win the free services are asked to promote the businesses on social media, or to appear in their marketing materials online and elsewhere. Now a couple of years after her wedding, Brallier continues to shout out the vendors who gifted her and her husband, Jacob, 26, a dream wedding.

Fox News was heavily criticized by its viewers after it called Arizona for Biden in 2020. After the immediate backlash, Fox News President Jay Wallace was reluctant to call Nevada, per NYT. Nevada's election result would have made Joe Biden's victory all but certain. The network's election team was prepared to call Nevada on November 6, NYT reported, which would have all but cemented Biden's victory. But in a text message reviewed by the Times, Wallace, who has been the network president since 2018, refused to air the result.
Fox News president Jay Wallace said North Korean propaganda has more nuance than Lou Dobbs. Wallace's comments about Dobbs were cited in a court filing by Dominion Voting Systems. Wallace said in September 2020 that "the North Koreans do a more nuanced show" than Dobbs, per a filing from Dominion Voting Systems released on Thursday. This filing was part of Dominion Voting Systems' defamation lawsuit against Fox News. Dominion Voting Systems has alleged that Fox defamed it by pushing a false conspiracy theory that it manipulated election results.
PORTSMOUTH, England, Feb 2 (Reuters) - British defence minister Ben Wallace said there was "no magic wand" that could help Ukraine in its fight against Russia, when asked on Thursday about the possibility of supplying British fighter jets to be used by Ukrainian forces. "There is no magic wand in this horrendous conflict," Wallace told reporters at Portsmouth in southern England, home to a naval base. Earlier on Thursday, Sunak's spokesman said the quickest a pilot could learn to fly a British fighter jet was 35 months. "Even if tomorrow morning we announce that we were going to put them in fast jets, that would take months," Wallace said. On Wednesday, Wallace said Britain had not made a "solid decision" not to send its fighter jets to Ukraine but does not think it is the right approach at the moment.
